Compiz sometimes does not work as I expect
I tried install guildwars using wine on my intrepid setup (which did not work too well), but after that somehow my compiz did not work anymore.
Searching revealed this helpful url.
Short version:
gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager false
